Experiences of migration and experimentation in sound technology

    Hangar.org · Barcelona

Mostra is hosting a unique discussion and electronic music workshop with Jokkoo Collective. The conversation will serve as a moment to get to know each other and share different migratory experiences, followed by an electronic music workshop where a group of young people will be invited to play, experiment and give space to a diversity of narratives and emotions. The workshop aims to create a space where innate creativity is celebrated and where the power of sound to transport us can be explored. About Jokkoo Collective: a musical arts collective based in Barcelona that works with the intention and need to explore and disseminate the most contemporary and futuristic creations of the experimental and alternative scenes of the African continent, its diaspora and allied communities around the world.

Greatest Hits: autoeditions for the embodiment rhythms

    Hangar.org · Barcelona

Many projects based on sound, design and architecture have been working radically on issues of self management and ecology, using publications to challenge the content distribution system. By producing printed graphic or sound productions — fanzines, manuals, vinyls, cassettes, sound experiences, posters and essays — labels and collectives generate narratives in which publishing is a way of managing resources. Through its catalogue of performative editions, las lindas pobres explores resources, whatever they may be, many or few. Along their lines of thought and creation, they use collective and experimental self-editing as an alternative for echoing in the dance space. Starting from sound experiences with ambient music, techno, cosmic techno, ambient techno or broken rhythms, in this workshop we want to generate a dubbing time of work with interconnected textures and rhythms to think about the politics of editing electronic music from DIY and collaborative work. About laslindaspobres & Magui Dávila: laslindaspobres is the project of Magui Dávila (aka Felisa) where she works with artistic practices of graphic and sound self-editing, in techno clubs, tracks and booths. She is the author of the text Una historia (rota) del t3chno m4rr0n, thinking about tomorrow's parties of today. She curates programmes on sound, body, spaces and objects, including Sonido por fricción (Matadero), Manuales de reparación y sonidos cósmicos (MACBA) and Corrimientos de voces at CA2M. She is a member of the HANGAR Barcelona Stable Jury. She hosts the programme La ficción de la maleta de discos on La Casa Encendida Radio. She is half of deleteD_action_sound, a slow dance electronic music duo.

Book presentation: Atom™, el virtuoso inconformista

    Castell de Montjuïc · Barcelona

Presentation of the book Atom™ — the non-conformist virtuoso, a work by Ximo Noguera that takes an in-depth look at the artistic career of one of the most multifaceted and versatile producers on the international electronic music scene. The argument of the book is based on the memoirs of Uwe Schmidt, derived from hours of interviews between the artist and Noguera, making it a very appropriate document to understand the progression and the different musical paths that the German artist has taken from the mid-80s to the present day. The presentation will be attended by Uwe Schmidt himself, who will be performing later on at #Mostra24 that day, and the author of the book. There will be a Q&A at the end of the presentation.
