Mostra
A festival to nourish the scene
What’s done with the heart conveys passion, purity, honesty, determination. A heart that beats is a heart that’s alive and is synonymous with life. It pulses to a rhythm, similar to the BPM at which music is played.
The Mostra project was born during the period of our harshest confinement from Covid-19. We want to celebrate life again with a new festival in Barcelona after a long year and a half, in which culture has come to a standstill and it has not been possible to carry out such events.
Mostra is a small-format festival of avant-garde and experimental electronic music that emerges as a counterpoint to the macro-festivals and the overcrowded, commercial and rather impersonal offerings of other large events held in Barcelona.
At a time of uncertainty, we have one certainty: from 11th to 17th April we will return to dance, embrace each other, share experiences and, above all, enjoy live music at a festival. We need to return, yes, but we need to return in a different way, and we do it with a project that comes straight from the heart.

Local
In a context in which the pandemic has highlighted the importance of The Local, Mostra is committed to The Local not only in the majority programming of local artists in the line-up, but also through how we choose our suppliers and other collaborations in the city. An exhibitors' Fira for the duration of the festival, the generation of our own media content all through the year with MostRadio podcasts, Mostra’m series of debates, seminars and conferences in parallel to the festival celebration and our choice to use the .barcelona domain are some of the elements that make Mostra a festival that is committed to local culture.

Inclusive
A festival to break across the gender gap in a traditionally masculinised scene, and also one that seeks to reflect the diversity of Barcelona. Barcelona is diverse, Mostra is too. We mirror this in our curation, in our team and in the values we promote: we want a more conscious scene where there is no space for any kind of violence or harassment, and where tolerance and respect are fundamental elements of the new normal.

Sustainable
A festival that seeks to be a social and environmental benchmark through specific actions. We follow the most up-to-date sustainable protocols and further develop good practice in relation to both city and planet; we create the figure of a Green Ambassador to lead and establish an action plan based on sustainable experiences; we limit the programming of foreign artists to reduce our carbon footprint; and we are committed to contracting and collaborating with social integration or social and solidarity economic organisations from Barcelona.
Mostra is more than a festival: it seeks to offer an alternative experience that brings us closer to the city. We want those who call Barcelona their home to make this position their own and to feel it belongs to them. That's why we're working to create a network in the scene among collectives, labels, artists, record shops and other agents in the city.
Because we believe that the new normal must be to cooperate and create community. Barcelona needs a festival like Mostra: we are here to join forces and become a benchmark for a new type of festival with its own identity, committed to what’s local, what’s inclusive, and what’s sustainable.
